  6. INSTALLATION:
  7. The  OPPL  program and data files must be installed on  the  same
  8. drive  and directory where OPPM.EXE is located.  First, set  your
  9. default  drive  and  directory to the drive and  directory  where
  10. OPPM.EXE  is located.  Example:  if OPPM is installed on C:\OPPM6
  11. type the following commands.
  12.  
  13.   C:
  14.   CD \OPPM6
  15.  
  16. Insert  the  OPPL distribution disk in your "A"  disk  drive  and
  17. type:
  18.  
  19.   A:OPPL_EXE
  20.  
  21. If  you  are using your "B" drive, substitute "B" for "A" in  the
  22. above command.
  23.  
  24. IMPORTANT: If you are upgrading from an earlier version of OPPL,
  25. answer Yes when prompted if you want to overwrite all files. 
  26. After installation is complete, DELETE file OPPLIF.NTX from your
  27. OPPM directory before running OPPL.
  28.  
  29. To  run  OPPL  set your default directory to the directory  where
  30. OPPL & OPPM are installed and type "OPPL".  Example:
  31.  
  32.   C:
  33.   CD \OPPM6
  34.   OPPL
  35.  
  36. USER's GUIDE
  37. The  user's  guide for the OWL Portfolio Price Loader built  into
  38. the program and is accessed by pressing the selecting the "User's
  39. Guide"  option  from the main menu..  The user's  guide  contains
  40. information that is critical to the successful operation of  this
  41. program.  We strongly suggest that you read the user's guide.
  42.  
  43. TROUBLE SHOOTING
  44.    
  45.    The  following  is  a  brief  list  of  errors  that  may   be
  46.    encountered and what to do about them.
  47.    
  48.    Out  of  Memory  or Low Memory:  You don't have enough  memory
  49.    below  640K to run the program.  If your computer has at least
  50.    512K  of RAM, you should be able to eliminate this problem  by
  51.    removing  memory resident programs (TSR'S) and device  drivers
  52.    (mouse drivers, network drivers, etc.) to free up memory.
  53.    
  54.    Program  Aborts with Message (DOS error 04):  This means  that
  55.    insufficient  DOS  file handles have been specified.   If  you
  56.    have  already added the line FILES=21 to your CONFIG.SYS  file
  57.    AND  rebooted your computer, try increasing the number  a  few
  58.    at  a  time.  Reboot your computer each time you increase  the
  59.    number.
  60.    
  61.    Program  Locks  up  or  screen becomes distorted:   The  mouse
  62.    display  software  in  OPPL  can  cause  problems  with   some
  63.    displays.   Adding  switches to the command  line  that  cause
  64.    OPPL  to  use  a non-graphic mouse cursor can sometimes  solve
  65.    this problem.  Try running OPPL with the following command:
  66.    
  67.          OPPL /nv /ng
  68.    
  69.    Mouse  doesn't work:  Your mouse driver is probably quite  old
  70.    and  out  of  date.  Contact your mouse vendor for an  updated
  71.    driver.
  72.    
  73.    Other  Errors:   If at any time you are unable  to  resolve  a
  74.    problem  with  this  program,  call  or  write  us  a   letter
  75.    explaining the nature of the problem.  Please also  include  a
  76.    description of your computer configuration including  any  TSR
  77.    programs which are installed.
